About the Full Stirrup Post Supports
VUETRADE Full Stirrup Post Supports hold timber posts off the concrete, either bolted onto it or cast into it; keeping the post end clear of the concrete helps prevent decay. 32 x 2.0mm shaft and 4.0mm saddle; VUETRADE's rated fixing is 2 x M12 bolts (or VUEBOLTs) through the saddle and 2 x M12 concrete bolts in the base. Stirrup widths 90 to 150mm with legs from 75 to 600mm, galvanised, with selected sizes in 304 stainless and BLACKOUT.

- Rated fixing (VUETRADE): 2 x M12 bolts or VUEBOLTs through the saddle, tightly fastened with nuts; 2 x M12 concrete bolts in the base, or cast in
- VUETRADE uplift design capacity: J3 12.7, J4 10.0, J5 8.7, JD3 15.8, JD4 12.7, JD5 11.0 kN, with that fixing and a post at least 90 x 90mm sitting flat on the base
- Capacities are VUETRADE's wind uplift (vertical) design capacities from its own tests, and assume enough concrete anchorage; embedment depth is set by your structural engineer
- Hot dip galvanised, minimum 300g/m2 (VUETRADE compliance statement)
- BLACKOUT is black powder coat over hot dip galvanised steel: same exposure limits as galvanised (VUETRADE)
- Leave at least 75mm clearance under the post for termite inspection: VUETRADE says it must be provided (AS 3660.1)
- Exposure (VUETRADE area chart): galvanised for enclosed work and for inland exterior work kept clear of fresh water and frequent wetting and drying; 304 stainless for marine sites (100m to 1km from a sheltered coast, 1 to 10km from surf) and for fresh-water contact or frequent wetting and drying; within 100m of a sheltered coast or 1km of breaking surf VUETRADE specifies 316, by special order. Around pools VUETRADE recommends stainless brackets for saltwater pools, and for freshwater pools where the brackets are splashed often

- Decks, pergolas and roofed structures: to VUETRADE's technical data (uplift, and dead load where listed, with its fixing conditions) or your engineer's design. VUETRADE: post supports give no lateral stability, so brace the posts to a structural engineer's design; footing embedment and concrete anchor bolts are set by your engineer
