About the Centre Blade Post Supports

VUETRADE Centre Blade Post Supports fix timber posts to concrete or timber bases with a hidden blade for a neat finish. 32 x 2.0mm shaft, 4.0mm saddle, 125 or 300mm leg. VUETRADE gives 90 to 100mm posts as a guide only and says to consult a structural engineer. Galvanised (M10 holes in blade and base), and 125mm in 304 stainless (M12 holes).

Both: bolts tightly fastened with nuts, post at least 90 x 90mm sitting flat on the base. Capacities are VUETRADE's wind uplift (vertical) design capacities from its own tests, and assume enough concrete anchorage; embedment depth is set by your structural engineer
Leave at least 75mm clearance under the post for termite inspection: VUETRADE says it must be provided (AS 3660.1)
Exposure (VUETRADE area chart): galvanised for enclosed work and for inland exterior work kept clear of fresh water and frequent wetting and drying; 304 stainless for marine sites (100m to 1km from a sheltered coast, 1 to 10km from surf) and for fresh-water contact or frequent wetting and drying; within 100m of a sheltered coast or 1km of breaking surf VUETRADE specifies 316, by special order. Around pools VUETRADE recommends stainless brackets for saltwater pools, and for freshwater pools where the brackets are splashed often
Fix stainless brackets with stainless fixings, and check local rules on stainless connectors (VUETRADE)

Applications

Neat, concealed post bases on concrete or timber
Decks, pergolas and roofed structures: to VUETRADE's technical data (uplift, and dead load where listed, with its fixing conditions) or your engineer's design. VUETRADE: post supports give no lateral stability, so brace the posts to a structural engineer's design; footing embedment and concrete anchor bolts are set by your engineer
