About the Hold Down Brackets
VUETRADE Hold Down Brackets are 2.0mm multi-purpose brackets that provide tie-down resistance, often used for wall studs and roof trusses. Each is fixed with VUETRADE 30 x 2.8mm connector plate nails (6 into the stud or rafter, 4 into the bottom member) plus one M12 bolt or rod into the supporting member. 120 x 50 x 47mm, galvanised or 316 stainless (cartons of 75) or BLACKOUT (cartons of 50). Australian made.

- 2.0mm steel, 120 x 50 x 47mm
- Fixing (VUETRADE): 6 x 30 x 2.8mm connector plate nails into the stud or rafter, 4 into the bottom member, and 1 x M12 bolt or rod through a 13mm hole into the supporting timber (a concrete bolt into a slab); a square washer may be used
- Wind uplift design capacity (VUETRADE, Category 1 joints, fixed as above, with enough anchorage below): J5 2.5, J4 3.3, J3 4.6, JD5 3.8, JD4 4.6, JD3 6.5 kN; a pair of brackets doubles it
- Galvanised (G300 Z275), 316 stainless or BLACKOUT
- Exposure (VUETRADE area chart): galvanised for enclosed work and inland exterior work kept clear of fresh water, frequent wetting and drying and pool splash; on marine sites (within 1km of a sheltered coast or 10km of surf), in fresh-water contact or frequent wetting and drying, or around pools, use the 316 stainless version
- BLACKOUT is black powder coat over G300 Z275 galvanised steel: same exposure limits as galvanised (VUETRADE technical data)
- Stainless nails and a stainless M12 bolt with the 316 bracket (VUETRADE); check local rules on stainless connectors
