About the Ant Caps
VUETRADE Ant Caps sit between timber, metal or masonry stumps or bases and the floor timbers in termite-prone areas, so termite mud tunnels show up at inspection. They do not stop termites: VUETRADE warns they will not prevent the passage of ants or termites, so check inspection requirements with your local inspector or council. Galvanised 100 and 125mm square caps with or without a hole and a 25 or 50mm flange, 230mm square and 230 x 115mm half caps without a hole, and a 316 stainless 100mm cap with a 25mm flange for coastal sites. For new work, AS 3660.1 as quoted by VUETRADE needs every edge at least 40mm out from the wall face, which the 50mm flange caps give.

- AS 3660.1 (new building work), as set out by VUETRADE: the cap must cover the top of the post and no edge may be less than 40mm from the vertical face of the wall, so the flange should be more than 40mm (the 50mm flange caps). Check the 25mm flange caps with your inspector or council before using them on new work
- Galvanised caps are 0.5mm G300 Z275 steel; stainless caps are 316
- Keep galvanised caps off stainless framing and stainless caps off galvanised framing: the contact causes accelerated electrolytic corrosion (VUETRADE)
