About the Tap In Plates
VUETRADE Tap In Plates are toothed plates for joining timber wall frames and top plates, truss manufacture and repairing timber ends: the teeth are hammered into both members, so no separate nails are needed. Galvanised (1.2mm G250 Z275) in 14 sizes from 45 to 130mm wide and 60 to 300mm long, and 316 stainless (1.2mm) in 45 x 120, 45 x 180, 70 x 120 and 70 x 180mm. Australian made.
Features

- 316 stainless in four sizes
- Butt joints: equal length into each member, one plate on each face; teeth within 12mm of the butt end or 6mm of the timber edge are ineffective (VUETRADE)
- Design capacity is given per tooth for joint group JD4 in VUETRADE's technical data (by load direction and load type)
- Exposure (VUETRADE area chart): galvanised for enclosed work and inland exterior work kept clear of fresh water, frequent wetting and drying and pool splash; on marine sites (within 1km of a sheltered coast or 10km of surf), in fresh-water contact or frequent wetting and drying, or around pools, use the 316 stainless version
