About the Bolt Down Post Supports
VUETRADE Bolt Down Post Supports are U saddles for bolting timber posts down to a concrete base, with a supplied cap that covers the anchoring bolts. 2 x M12 bolts through the saddle; 2 or 4 x M12 concrete bolts in the base (4 on 125mm and larger). Galvanised 3.0mm (90 and 100mm) or 4.0mm (115 and 125mm); 304 stainless 1.5mm (90mm), 3.0mm (100mm) or 4.0mm (115mm and up); the 90mm sizes come with a washer for VUETRADE's single-bolt alternative fixing. Galvanised 90 to 125mm, 304 stainless 90 to 200mm, 316 stainless 90mm and BLACKOUT 100mm.

- VUETRADE uplift design capacity: J3 9.4, J4 7.5, J5 6.5, JD3 11.8, JD4 9.4, JD5 8.2 kN (galvanised, and stainless 100mm and up); stainless 90mm JD3 10.3, JD4 8.3, JD5 7.2 kN; posts at least 90 x 90mm (100 x 100mm on stainless 100mm and up)
- Capacities are VUETRADE's wind uplift (vertical) design capacities and assume enough anchorage in the concrete
- Post sizes 90 to 200mm square
- BLACKOUT is black powder coat over hot dip galvanised steel: same exposure limits as galvanised (VUETRADE)
- Exposure (VUETRADE area chart): galvanised for enclosed work and for inland exterior work kept clear of fresh water and frequent wetting and drying; 304 stainless for marine sites (100m to 1km from a sheltered coast, 1 to 10km from surf) and for fresh-water contact or frequent wetting and drying; within 100m of a sheltered coast or 1km of breaking surf VUETRADE specifies 316 (the 90mm 316 is listed here; other 316 sizes by special order). Around pools VUETRADE recommends stainless brackets for saltwater pools, and for freshwater pools where the brackets are splashed often

- Decks, pergolas and roofed structures: to VUETRADE's technical data (uplift, and dead load where listed, with its fixing conditions) or your engineer's design. VUETRADE: post supports give no lateral stability, so brace the posts to a structural engineer's design; footing embedment and concrete anchor bolts are set by your engineer
