Types of nuts

The Hex Nut page covers standard nuts in steel, stainless, brass and nylon, metric M2 to M100 and imperial. If vibration is a concern, a Nyloc Nut grips the thread with a nylon ring, a Lock Nut does it all-metal, and a Hex Flange Nut bites with a serrated flange. A Slotted Nut takes a split pin for positive locking, and the Structural Nut page has K0 nuts to AS/NZS 1252 for 8.8/HR assemblies.

For finishing, a Dome Nut covers the bolt end and a Wing Nut tightens by hand. A Hex Coupler Nut joins two lengths of threaded rod, and a Strut Channel Nut locks into strut for services. To get a thread into thin sheet or tube from one side, use Rivet Nuts (Rivnuts & Nutserts); into timber, use a Tee Nut or Timber Insert Nut. For wire balustrade into timber posts, use the M6 Balustrade Timber Insert.
