About the Assorted Bolt, Nut & Washer Kits
Nut and bolt kits put the common sizes of bolts, nuts and washers in one case, so spares are on hand for farm machinery repairs and workshop maintenance. Three Agpacks come in a resealable plastic tub (UNC grade 5 and 8, large UNC grade 8, and metric class 8.8 M6 to M16), and 11 kits come in a metal case, including zinc plated class 8.8 metric mixes, single-size kits from M5 to M12, 316 stainless M5 to M10, and UNC grade 5 and 8 from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Sold by the kit; the guide below lists what is in every kit and which suits which job.

What a nut and bolt kit is
An assortment kit puts a graded spread of bolts, nuts and (in most kits) washers in one container, so the common sizes are on hand for repairs and maintenance.
Agpacks come in a strong plastic tub with a resealable lid, with every size in its own sealed, labelled plastic bag. Hobson says they hold the bolts, nuts and washers most commonly found in rural and agricultural machinery, and that having spares on hand can help reduce the cost of downtime. Keep one in the shed, ute or van.
The FEFK kits come in a tough metal case with a latch closure.
Which nut and bolt kit?
- Farm and older machinery in inch sizes: Agpack 1 (UNC 1/4 to 5/8 inch, Grade 5 and 8, 660 pieces), Agpack 2 (large UNC 1/2 to 3/4 inch, Grade 8, 110 pieces) or the metal case UNC kit FEFK016 (1/4 to 1/2 inch, 425 pieces).
- Metric machinery and general repairs: Agpack 3 (M6 to M16 Class 8.8, 650 pieces) or FEFK015 (M6 to M12 Class 8.8 hex bolts and nuts, 513 pieces).
- One size, everything for it: the single-size kits FEFK019 (M5), FEFK020 (M6), FEFK021 (M8), FEFK022 (M10) and FEFK023 (M12) hold bolts or set screws in several lengths with hex, flange and Nyloc nuts (most also have dome nuts) and several washer types.
- Flange bolts: FEFK003, serrated flange bolts and nuts M5 to M10.
- Fine thread: FEFK004, fine pitch M8 to M12 bolts and nuts.
- Outdoors or near water: the 316 stainless kits FEFK005 (M5 and M6) and FEFK006 (M8 and M10).

Grades and finishes in the kits
- Metric zinc kits: Class 8.8 bolts and set screws (AS 1110.1 and AS 1110.2 in most kits) with Class 8 hex and flange nuts (in FEFK020 to FEFK023 the Nyloc nuts are Class 6 and the dome nuts Class 5); FEFK019 adds Class 12.9 socket head cap screws, which Hobson lists as plain.
- UNC kits: Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts and nuts, FEFK016 to AS 2465; Hobson gives no standard for the Agpacks.
- Stainless kits: A4 (316) set screws, nuts and washers.
- Zinc plated (ISO 4042, about 5 micron): Hobson rates it low corrosion resistance and recommends it for indoor and non-corrosive environments. Hobson's Agpack sheet says the zinc plating is for added corrosion protection.
- For work exposed to the weather, such as decks and pergolas, Hobson's corrosion guide calls for stainless or hot dip galvanised fixings, which points to the 316 kits. Neither 304 nor 316 is made to sit in seawater.

What is in a nut and bolt kit?
It depends on the kit: the tables above list every item Hobson puts in each one. Agpacks 1 to 3 hold hex bolts and nuts; the single-size kits add set screws, flange, Nyloc and dome nuts and several washer types; the 316 kits hold set screws, nuts, flat washers and spring washers.
Which kit suits farm machinery?
Hobson made the Agpacks for the bolts, nuts and washers most commonly found in rural and agricultural machinery: Agpack 1 and 2 for UNC inch sizes and Agpack 3 for metric. They come in a plastic tub with a resealable lid that fits in the shed, ute or van.
Do you have a metric nut and bolt kit?
Yes: Agpack 3 (M6 to M16), FEFK015 (M6 to M12), the flange kit FEFK003 (M5 to M10), the fine pitch kit FEFK004 (M8 to M12), single-size kits from M5 to M12, and 316 stainless kits from M5 to M10.
Do you have a stainless nut and bolt kit?
Yes, two 316 (A4) kits: FEFK005 with M5 and M6 set screws, nuts, flat and spring washers (810 pieces), and FEFK006 with M8 and M10 (324 pieces).
What is the difference between Grade 5, Grade 8 and Class 8.8?
Grade 5 and Grade 8 are strength grades for UNC (inch) bolts (FEFK016 is made to AS 2465), and Class 8.8 is the strength class for the metric bolts. Match the grade the machine or plans call for.
Can I buy refills for a kit?
Most items in the kits are also sold loose in our hex bolt, nut and washer ranges. The single-size kits (M5 to M12) are standalone kits, each holding one size. Hobson marks a few kit parts as not sold individually and notes replacement parts may not match the original kit part.
