How a cavity slider works
A pocket in the wall
A slim steel or timber frame is built into the wall, forming a hollow pocket beside the opening. Match the frame to your wall stud thickness.
The door slides away
The door hangs from an overhead track and rolls straight into that pocket, so it disappears rather than swinging into the room.
Full, clear opening
With no leaf in the way and no swing arc, you get the entire doorway back, which is why it suits tight ensuites and robes.

Flush pull or flush jamb
The one choice that changes how your cavity slider looks and opens. Either frame, Timber or Steel, can be had as a flush pull or a flush jamb.

Flush Pull
The door sits proud, protruding about 50mm past the wall, so you grab the edge to slide it. The standard finish on Evolution Timber and Steel. Add soft close if you like.

Flush Jamb
The door sits flush with the wall for a clean, handle-free look, and a built-in one-touch release lets you push it to pop out. Soft close and the sliding door are included; this is the Complete unit.
Compatible doors
The cavity unit takes any Hume internal door as the sliding leaf, so you can match it to the rest of the house. A few to start with:

Cavity slider FAQs
Can I buy Hume cavity sliders directly from Allmat?+
Yes. Allmat can order the full Hume Evolution cavity slider range and the door to suit. You cannot buy from Hume directly, but you can through us, alongside the rest of your building materials in the one order.
Where are cavity sliders most used?+
The most common spot is an ensuite door, where a swinging door would clash with the vanity or toilet. They are also a favourite for walk-in robes, laundries and powder rooms. It is a system builders reach for often.
Flush pull or flush jamb, what is the difference?+
A flush pull door sits proud about 50mm so you grab the edge to slide it; this is the standard Evolution Timber or Steel. A flush jamb door sits flush with the wall and a built-in one-touch release pushes it out, with soft close and the sliding door included; this is the Complete unit. Either comes in a timber or steel (Aspire) frame.
Does it fit an existing wall?+
The cavity frame is built into the wall during construction or renovation, since it needs the hollow pocket beside the opening. Match the stud thickness (64 to 100mm) to your wall. For an existing solid wall a face-fixed slider running on the wall can be an alternative.
What door thickness and weight do they take?+
The cavity units suit 35mm doors up to 70kg. All of our Hume internal doors are 35mm, so any of them can be the sliding leaf.
How much opening does the cavity need?+
As a rule of thumb in SA the frame opening height is the door height plus 80mm, and you need roughly the door width again beside the opening for the pocket. Send us the door size and we will confirm the exact cavity opening for your wall.
Which door can I use?+
Any of our Hume internal doors can be the sliding leaf, so you can match the slider to the other doors in the house. Flush, panel, glazed and timber-veneer doors all work, and a staingrade upgrade is available if you want to stain it.
