Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Five sizes, one each of M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10 (NRALPFKOM04110 to NRALPFKOM10190), aluminium.
- Hole size and grip range examples: M6 needs a 9.0mm hole and grips 0.5mm to 3.0mm; M10 needs a 13.0mm hole and grips 0.5mm to 3.0mm.
- Working pullout load: 600N for M4 and 650N for M5 in 1.2mm aluminium plate; 1,650N for M6, 1,750N for M8 and 2,000N for M10 in 3.0mm aluminium. Working loads include a factor of safety of 2.5 for steel; mean and characteristic loads are also listed. All values are laboratory results.
- Proof load ranges from 4,000N (M4) to 17,500N (M10); torsional strength from 2.5Nm to 25Nm.
- Listed uses: fastening body panels and chassis parts in the automotive industry, fastening steel sheets in construction, load bearing fixings where the material is too thin for bolting, and places with no access for a normal nut.
Who it helps: Fabricators and auto, trailer and sheet metal workers fixing threads into thin material.
