Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • 316 stainless, HEC marked. Also called countersunk head, flush head or thin sheet type rivet nut.
  • Low profile head sits nearly flush on sheet metal; the knurled body grips to stop it spinning.
  • Sizes and hole to drill: M4 6mm hole, M5 7mm, M6 9mm, M8 11mm.
  • Grip range starts at 0.5mm: up to 2.0mm for M4 and M5, 2.5mm for M6 and 3.0mm for M8.
  • Used where material is too thin for bolting, or where there is no access for a normal nut: car body panels, chassis parts and steel sheets.
