Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • 2 ply, 100% polyester webbing with an eye at each end. Made with a safety factor of 8:1, complies with EN 1492-1 and meets the performance requirements of AS 1353.
  • Three ratings, colour coded: 1,000kg purple (50mm wide, 1 to 5m long), 2,000kg green (60mm, 1 to 5m) and 3,000kg yellow (90mm, 1 to 6m).
  • Chart example, 2,000kg green sling: vertical 2,000kg, choke 1,600kg, basket 4,000kg. In a basket hitch with the legs angled (as drawn on the chart) the WLL drops: 3,800kg at 30°, 3,400kg at 60°, 2,800kg at 90°, 2,000kg at 120°.
  • The chart covers ratings from 1,000kg (violet) to 10,000kg (orange); the choke WLL is 80% of the vertical WLL in every row.
  • Do not use a sling with its WLL tag removed, or with cut webbing, snagging, heat or chemical damage. Inspect it between each use.
  • No knots in the webbing, protect it from sharp edges with sleeves, and keep it below 90°C and away from strong alkalis and phenolic compounds.

Who it helps: Riggers, builders and crane crews choosing a flat sling and checking its WLL for a hitch.
