Nylon Fastener Properties: PA6.6, Glass-Filled Nylon, PVDF, POM, PP and PC
A one-page technical table comparing the plastics used for nylon and polymer fasteners: PA6.6 nylon, glass fibre reinforced PA6.6, PVDF, POM (acetal), PP and PC. It lists physical, thermal, electrical and mechanical properties side by side.

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- PA6.6 nylon: density 1.14 g/cm³, humidity absorption 2.60%, melt temperature 250°C, working temperature -30 to +100°C, peak 150°C, tensile strength 60 MPa, UL94 V2.
- Glass fibre reinforced PA6.6 is the strongest on the sheet: tensile strength 125 MPa, modulus 5,300 MPa, working temperature -40 to +130°C, peak 180°C.
- PVDF absorbs the least water (0.04%) and is rated UL94 V0 (self extinguishing).
- PP is the lightest (0.9 g/cm³) with the lowest tensile strength (20 MPa). PC has the widest working range, -100 to +120°C, and the highest hardness (85 Shore D).
- POM (acetal): tensile strength 60 MPa, modulus 3,000 MPa, working temperature -40 to +95°C.
- UL94 key: V0 self extinguishing, V1 non-flammable, V2 flammability difficult, HB slow burning.
Who it helps: Anyone choosing a plastic fastener for heat, water, electrical insulation or strength.
