Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Wing screws are not recommended for fixing long lengths of timber, including treated pine decking, directly to steel joists or supports.
- The screws may break because the timber and steel move against each other, from changes in humidity and moisture content, thermal expansion, building movement or settling, and overdriving during installation.
- Covers the countersunk ribbed wing screws: T9PG3RQ (Class 3, square drive), T9PG3SI (Class 3, hex drive) and T9PGYRQ (zinc yellow, square drive).
Who it helps: Deck and floor builders fixing timber to steel framing.
