Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Bi-FiX construction: a 316 stainless head and body for corrosion resistance, with a heat-treated carbon steel drill point for drilling straight into metal; then a metallic zinc layer and a baked top coat.
  • Part T6X5XWO1224040: 12 gauge, 24 TPI, 40mm long, 12mm wafer head, Torx T25 drive. Rated CL 4 R1500.
  • Listed for marine and corrosive environments, steel up to 12mm thick, and fixing aluminium framing and cladding into purlins and hot rolled steel.
  • Working pullout load: 200N in 0.5mm G2 sheet, 1,550N in 1.5mm G450 and 2,500N in 2.9mm G450 steel. Working loads already include a factor of safety of 2.5 for steel; mean and characteristic loads are also listed. All values are laboratory results.
  • Characteristic shear strength 5,450N and characteristic tensile strength 9,150N (mean 6,450N and 10,750N); torsional strength 6.9Nm.
  • Install with a cordless screwdriver at 2,200 to 3,000RPM and a Torx #25 bit, with firm pressure. Do not over-tighten; impact drivers are not recommended.

Who it helps: Builders fixing aluminium framing or cladding to steel near the coast or in corrosive conditions.
