Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Parts T55MSWQ1016016 (10-16 x 16), T55MSWQ1016030 (10-16 x 30) and T55MSWQ1024022 (10-24 x 22), #2 square drive.
- Made from 550 stainless: a high-hardness martensitic stainless steel that drills well, with extra chromium for corrosion resistance the sheet rates as equivalent to 304.
- For marine areas, areas with high pollution and other places that need better corrosion resistance; the sheet says it fixes stainless steel sheeting without pre-drilling.
- Working pull-out load from the steel it is fixed into, safety factor 2.5 already included: 200N in 0.5mm G2, 1,550N in 1.5mm G450, 2,400N in 2.9mm G450. Laboratory values; actual loads depend on the base material.
- Use a #2 square drive bit in a cordless screw gun at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM, with firm, steady pressure while it drills. Do not over-tighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
Who it helps: Installers fixing stainless or metal sheeting in marine or polluted areas.
