Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- For fixing timber to metal, fibre cement cladding, and temporary timber fencing and gates. 8 ribs under the head help it countersink.
- C1022 hardened steel, zinc yellow passivate finish, Phillips #2 drive. Lengths 20mm (T9PMYRP0818020) and 30mm (T9PMYRP0818030), packs of 1,000.
- Pull-out working load: 300N in 0.7mm G2 plate, 1,250N in 1.5mm G550 and 2,200N in 2.5mm G450. The working loads already include factors of safety and come from laboratory tests.
- Drill point test: drills 1.5mm G450 plate in 3 seconds on average (4 seconds maximum) at 2,200 RPM under an 18kg load.
- Pre-drill the timber first: a 2.5mm pilot hole in softwood, 3.0mm in hardwood. Then drive at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM with firm pressure, do not over-tighten, and do not use an impact driver.
Who it helps: Builders fixing timber or fibre cement sheet to light steel.
