  • Installation
  • Recommended drive bit

For Tek Screws (Self-Drilling Metal Screws).

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Martensitic 410 stainless steel: corrosion resistant, and hard enough to drill into steel. Not suitable for coastal use.
  • 10 gauge, 24 TPI, countersunk head 9.5mm across, Phillips #2 drive, 6mm drill point length. Lengths 30, 40 and 50mm (T41MSCP1024030 to T41MSCP1024050).
  • Listed uses: roofing and cladding, and the food and dairy industry.
  • Working pull-out load in steel plate: 200N in 0.5mm G2, 1,400N in 1.5mm G450, 2,400N in 2.9mm G450. These already include a safety factor of 2.5 for steel. All values are from lab tests, and real pull-out can differ with the base material.
  • Characteristic tensile strength 13,100N, characteristic shear 7,850N, torsional strength 6.9Nm. These are test strengths for engineers, not working loads.
  • Install with a cordless screwdriver at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM max, with steady firm pressure, and do not overtighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
  • Recommended bit: Phillips #2 power bit, TXDIPPHS20050 to TXDIPPHS20150, 50 to 150mm long.

Who it helps: Roofers and cladders fixing to steel, including in food and dairy work, who need a flush stainless screw head, and staff checking sizes and pull-out loads.
