Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Low profile wafer head for metal to metal fixing in highly corrosive and severe marine conditions, including stainless, aluminium and fibreglass sheeting.
- Bi-metal construction: A4 (316) stainless body with a heat treated high carbon steel drill point, R1500 hours protective coat.
- Three lengths, square #2 drive, packs of 500: 16mm (QB13), 25mm (QB14) and 30mm (QB15).
- Maximum drilling thickness is 4mm.
- Working pull-out load in purlin: 330N in 0.5mm G2, 1,150N in 1.5mm G550, 2,160N in 2.4mm G450 and 2,140N in 2.9mm G2.
- All pull-out figures are from laboratory tests on Hobson's DRiLLX screws; the working loads already include a factor of safety of 2.5 for steel.
- Install with a cordless screwdriver at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM, keep firm, steady pressure while it drills, and do not overtighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
Who it helps: Builders and fabricators working near the sea who need a 316 stainless 10g tek screw with a low head.
