Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Metal to metal fixing for corrosive conditions: cladding metal sheet, signs, fences and sheds.
  • Bi-metal 304 stainless with Hobson's R1000 hours protective coating.
  • One size: 12 gauge x 14 TPI x 38mm, 31.5mm thread, 11.7mm pan head, square #2 drive (QFind Q960).
  • Working pull-out load in purlin: 450N in 1.2mm G2, 1,000N in 1.5mm G550, 1,850N in 2.5mm G450 and 2,100N in 3.0mm G2.
  • All pull-out figures are from laboratory tests on Hobson's DRiLLX screws; the working loads already include a factor of safety of 2.5 for steel.
  • Characteristic tensile strength 10,350N and characteristic shear strength 6,200N.
  • Install with a cordless screwdriver at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM, keep firm, steady pressure while it drills, and do not overtighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.

Who it helps: Anyone fixing sheet, signs or fencing to steel who wants a stainless pan head 12g tek screw.
