14-14 Bi-Metal 304 Stainless Hex Flange Self-Drilling Screw: Performance Data
Hobson's two-page DRiLLX performance data sheet for its bi-metal 304 stainless self-drilling screw with a flanged hex head, 14 gauge x 14 TPI. It gives pull-out values in steel purlin, drill test and strength results, and the five lengths from T4XMXHH1414025 to T4XMXHH1414095.

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Metal to metal fixing for marine and corrosive conditions: cladding metal sheets, signs, fences and sheds.
- Bi-metal construction: A2 stainless body with a heat treated high carbon steel drill point, finished with Hobson's R1000 hours protective coat.
- Five lengths, all 14-14 with a 3/8 inch hex drive and packs of 500: 25, 35, 52, 70 and 95mm (T4XMXHH1414025 to T4XMXHH1414095).
- Working pull-out load in purlin: 360N in 0.8mm G2, 1,310N in 1.5mm G550, 2,660N in 2.5mm G450 and 2,270N in 2.9mm G2.
- All pull-out figures are from laboratory tests on Hobson's DRiLLX screws; the working loads already include a factor of safety of 2.5 for steel.
- Characteristic shear strength 8,330N and characteristic tensile strength 13,890N; torsional strength 10.9Nm.
- Install with a cordless screwdriver at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM, keep firm, steady pressure while it drills, and do not overtighten.
Who it helps: Builders and fabricators fixing sheet or brackets to steel in coastal or corrosive spots, and engineers checking pull-out values.
