BDX Metal Hex Head, Washer and XGRiP 14-14 x 110 to 300mm: Performance Data
Hobson's three-page performance data sheet for the long BDX metal hex head, washer and XGRiP screw, part prefix T9PM9XH1414. It fastens insulated roofing panels to steel, and the sheet covers sizes, pullout values, mechanical properties, a drill point test and installation.

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- 14 gauge, 14 TPI, lengths 110, 125, 150, 175, 205, 230 and 300mm, hex head 15mm across with a 3/8 inch drive. Each has a 16mm XGRiP thread section.
- C1022 hardened steel with the X9 ProteXion coating, which the sheet rates as suitable for ISO 9223 category 4 environments.
- Uses: fastening insulated roofing panels to steel, crest fixing on all roofing profiles, metal to metal fixing, metal roofing and sheds.
- Working pullout load: 400N in G2 steel 0.7mm, 2,250N in G450 1.9mm and 3,000N in G2 2.9mm. The 2.5 factor of safety for steel is already included; the mean and characteristic loads beside them are test values. All values come from laboratory tests, and real pullout can differ with the base material.
- Drill point test: under a 18kg load at 2,200 RPM it drills 1.9mm G450 plate in no more than 5 seconds on average (6 seconds at most for any one screw).
- Drive with a cordless screw gun at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM using a hex drive bit, with firm, steady pressure, and do not over-tighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
Who it helps: Builders, fabricators and roofers choosing a self-drilling screw for steel, and staff checking sizes or pullout figures.
