Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Aluminium alloy 5052 shell with a zinc plated carbon steel stem; truss (dome) head, open type, large flange. Part numbers start R9P73LAS.
  • Shell diameters 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.8mm, with a recommended drill of 3.3mm, 4.1mm and 4.9mm, and head diameters of 10mm, 12mm and 16mm.
  • Grip ranges run from 1.6mm to 3.2mm (#42) up to 22.2mm to 25.4mm (#616). For example R9P73LAS606 (#66) is 4.8mm and grips 6.4mm to 9.5mm.
  • The large head is for fastening soft materials. An open rivet is not sealed by the stem.
  • Packs of 1,000 for 3.2mm and 4.0mm, 500 for 4.8mm.
  • Hobson's code letters: L large flange head, T sealed, M multi-grip, P peel, G grooved (for less stiff materials such as plastic), W triform; O marks open types.

Who it helps: Anyone riveting soft materials who needs a large head rivet.
