Hobson's one-page product data sheet for its hot dipped galvanised class 8 hex coupler (part prefix AXHC08GCM), used to join two male threads, most commonly threaded rod. It covers M16 to M48 with pitch, spanner size, length, stress area, proof load and pack quantity.
What this covers
- Properties and finish
- Thread engagement
- Sizes and dimensions
- Proof load
- Pack quantities
For Hex Coupler Nut.
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Property class 8: mechanical properties and chemical composition to ISO 898-2 / AS/NZS 4291.2 for class 8 nuts. Hot dip galvanised to AS/NZS 1214.
- Each male thread must go in at least 1 x its diameter to reach these properties. The coupler is 3 x D long to allow adjustment at either end.
- Proof load, with that thread engagement: M16 138.2kN, M24 324.8kN, M36 751.6kN, M48 1,355.2kN.
- Seven sizes, AXHC08GCM16 (M16) to AXHC08GCM48 (M48). For example M20: 2.50mm pitch, 30mm spanner, 60mm long; M48: 5.00mm pitch, 75mm spanner, 144mm long.
- Pack quantities: 50 for M16, 25 for M20, 20 for M24, 5 for M30 and up.
Who it helps: Engineers and installers joining galvanised threaded rod or studs with a class 8 coupler, and staff checking sizes.
