316 Stainless Hex Coupler Nut: Sizes and Proof Load Data Sheet

Hobson's one-page product data sheet for its 316 stainless hex coupler (part prefix AXHC16PCM), used to join two male threads, most commonly threaded rod. It lists every size from M6 to M36 with pitch, spanner size, length, stress area and proof load.

What this covers

  • Mechanical properties
  • Thread engagement
  • Sizes and dimensions
  • Proof load

For Hex Coupler Nut.

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Material AISI 316 / A4-50: mechanical properties to ISO 3506 class 50, stress under proof load 500MPa.
  • Each male thread must go in at least 1 x its diameter to reach these properties. The coupler is 3 x D long, which leaves room to adjust at each end.
  • Proof load, with that thread engagement: M6 10.1kN, M12 42.1kN, M20 122.4kN, M36 408.4kN.
  • Properties were tested at 10 to 35°C ambient and can vary outside that range.
  • Nine sizes, AXHC16PCM06 (M6) to AXHC16PCM36 (M36). For example M12: 1.75mm pitch, 19mm spanner, 36mm long; M20: 2.50mm pitch, 30mm spanner, 60mm long.

Who it helps: Anyone joining stainless threaded rod or studs, and staff checking spanner size or proof load.
