Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Grade S, hot dip galvanised with a yellow painted pin. Made to AS 2741 and approved for lifting.
- WLL from 0.50 tonne (ULSHGSGDD-06) to 17.00 tonne (ULSHGSGDD-38), for example 2.00 tonne for ULSHGSGDD-13 and 4.70 tonne for ULSHGSGDD-19.
- Assembly: the pin must go the full depth of the screwed eye with its collar on the drilled eye, screwed securely into the body. Never swap in a pin of a different grade or size.
- Remove visibly bent, overly tight or misaligned shackles from service. Secure the pins of shackles left on a lifting device.
- Use only between -10°C and 200°C. Avoid moves where the load can roll and unscrew the pin, and use loose spacer washers to keep the load central; never weld them on.
- With multi-leg slings, allow for the angle between the legs.
- Marked with CE, WLL, grade, the maker's mark and a trace code linked to the test certificate.
Who it helps: Riggers and anyone using dee shackles in lifting, rigging or tension systems who needs the WLL and the assembly and usage rules.
