Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Eight Grade 80 hooks: eye grab hook ULHK08PGE, eye safety hook ULHK08PSE, swivel safety hook ULHK08PSS, eye sling hook ULHK08PLE, latch hook with swivel ULHK08PAS, clevis sling hook ULHK08PLC, clevis safety hook ULHK08PSC and clevis grab hook ULHK08PGC.
  • All are powder coated, and every page except the clevis grab hook lists AS 3776. All are for lifting with chains and synthetic slings, with Grade 80 lifting components; the latch hook with swivel also lists wire rope.
  • Every hook has the same working load limit (WLL) for a given size: 6mm 1.12 tonne, 8mm 2.00, 10mm 3.15, 13mm 5.30, 16mm 8.00, 20mm 12.50 tonne.
  • Sizes 6 to 20mm for the grab, eye sling, clevis sling and clevis safety hooks; 6 to 16mm for the eye safety, swivel safety and latch with swivel hooks.
  • Safety hooks lock so components cannot release; swivel hooks turn 360° to line up with the load; grab hooks shorten chain slings and can back hook.
  • The clevis grab hook is individually proof tested at 2.5 x WLL; several hooks are fatigue tested at 1.5 x WLL for 20,000 cycles.
  • Each hook is marked with CE, its WLL, a trace code linked to its test certificate online, and the maker's mark.

Who it helps: Riggers and staff choosing between Grade 80 hook types and checking part numbers and WLL.
