Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Four parts, ULLW08PDS01, 03, 05 and 08, Grade 80, powder coated. Each is marked with the CE mark, WLL, a trace code linked to its certificate, and the maker's mark.
- Working load limit for a single vertical leg (0°): 1, 3, 5 and 8 tonne. In multi-leg lifts the sheet gives a WLL for each leg angle, for example ULLW08PDS03: 5.2 tonne at 60°, 4.2 tonne at 90°, 3 tonne at 120°.
- Welding must be done by an authorised welder to AS 1554 or another relevant standard: clean, tack, a single-bevel V butt weld reinforced with a fillet weld, without interrupting the weld. The weld size and length for each part are in the table.
- Position points to take all angles and loads: single leg directly above the load's centre of gravity; two legs equidistant from it; multiple legs symmetrical around it, where hooking on and off can be done safely.
- For permanent lifting or anchor points on spreader beams and heavy equipment, and anchor points for load restraint, welded onto carbon steel.
Who it helps: Fabricators and riggers adding permanent lifting points to beams and equipment.
