Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Screws straight into plasterboard with no pre-drilling. In other materials a 6mm pre-drilled hole is recommended.
- Sizes: MJP25 for single plasterboard with reduced space behind; MJP32 for single or double drywall with limited space behind; MJP39 for single or double drywall and gypsum fibre board. MJP32-S and MJP39-S include a PZ2 4.5 x 30mm wood screw.
- MJP25, MJP32 and MJP39 take 4 to 4.5mm screws or M4 threaded rod; the screw versions are set with a Duo-Bit. MJPm (39mm long) has a 7mm long M6 or M8 thread, is set with an SQ-Bit and takes a nut and washer.
- Recommended tension load per plug, safety factor 3 included: 100N in 12.5mm plasterboard, 100N in aerated concrete (6mm pre-drilled) and 150N in gypsum fibre board for every size; 450N in chipboard (6mm pre-drilled); 220N in gypsum (6mm pre-drilled) for the 39mm sizes only.
- Reduce these values for shear, bending, combined loads, close edges or groups of plugs. The document says the data must be checked by an engineer experienced in anchorage.
- Drive the plug until the collar is flush; the fixed item may only bear on the collar. A back twist lock lets the screw come out without the plug moving.
Who it helps: Builders and fitters hanging pictures, lamps, rails and small shelves on plasterboard, chipboard or gypsum.
