Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Screws straight into single or double plasterboard with no pre-drilling. In other materials, such as gypsum and aerated concrete, a 7mm pre-drilled hole is recommended.
- Three versions: MFJ25 (25mm long, 13mm collar, for limited space behind the board), MFJ32 (32mm, 14mm collar) and MFJ32-S, which comes with a PZ2 4.5 x 30mm wood screw.
- Takes 4 to 4.5mm screws. Minimum screw anchorage depth is 20mm for a 4mm screw and 15mm for a 4.5mm screw; screw length is that depth plus the fixture thickness. MFJ32-S suits fixtures up to 15mm thick.
- Recommended tension load in 12.5mm plasterboard: 90N for every size, with a safety factor of 3 included. The values must be reduced for shear, bending, combined loads, close edges or groups of plugs, and checked by an engineer experienced in anchorage.
- Set with a Duo-Bit PZ2, which drives both the plug and the screw. Drive the plug until its collar is flush; the fixed item may only bear on the plug collar.
- A back twist lock lets the screw come out without the plug turning. Electrically insulated, for indoor and outdoor use: pictures, lamps, rails and small wall-mounted shelves.
Who it helps: Builders, shopfitters and DIYers fixing light items to plasterboard, gypsum or aerated concrete.
