Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- 10 gauge, 15 TPI, 16mm long, flat head 8.5mm across and 1.0mm high, Phillips #2 drive. C1022 hardened steel, zinc yellow passivate finish.
- For stitching sheet metal, thin gauge sheet steel and general fixing of lightweight steel. The low profile head suits confined areas.
- Working pullout load: 250N in G550 steel 0.55mm thick, with the 2.5 factor of safety for steel already included. Mean (750N) and characteristic (600N) loads are test values, and all values come from laboratory tests.
- Drill point test: under a 13kg load at 2,200 RPM it drills 0.55mm G550 plate in no more than 1.0 seconds on average (1.5 seconds at most for any one screw).
- Drive with a cordless screw driver at no more than 2,500 RPM using a Phillips #2 bit, and do not over-tighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
Who it helps: Builders, fabricators and roofers choosing a self-drilling screw for steel, and staff checking sizes or pullout figures.
