Hobson tightening torque chart
D-LOK Bolt Torque Chart: Plain and Zinc Flake, M5 to M20
Hobson's one-page table of recommended tightening torques for D-LOK bolts, plain and zinc flake coated. For each size from M5 to M20 it gives the minimum ultimate tensile and yield load, the clamp load and the torque.
What this covers
- Minimum UTS and yield
- Clamp load
- Recommended tightening torque
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Covers sizes M5 to M20.
- Recommended torque, plain / zinc flake: M8 48.4 / 41.1Nm; M10 95.7 / 81.3Nm; M12 167.0 / 142.0Nm; M16 414.0 / 352.0Nm; M20 810.0 / 689.0Nm.
- The clamp load is 75% of yield: for example M12 minimum yield 92.7kN gives a 69.5kN clamp load; M16 172.5kN gives 129.4kN.
- Nut factors used: 0.2 for plain and 0.17 for zinc flake.
- A guide only, based on the first tightening of a single assembly on its own.
