Class 8.8 Fascia Bolt Assembly (KBIHT): Sizes and Torque Data Sheet

Hobson's one-page product data sheet for its class 8.8 fascia bolt assemblies, part series KBIHT. It lists three hot dip galvanised assemblies in M10 and M12 with bolt and nut dimensions, indicative tightening torque and bolt tension.

What this covers

  • Assembly parts
  • Dimensions
  • Indicative tightening torque
  • Installation reminder

For Fascia Bolt.

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Each assembly is a property class 8.8 bolt and a class 8 nut. The nut has a flange (22mm on M10, 26mm on M12).
  • The text mentions zinc plated and hot dip galvanised, but all three listed parts are hot dip galvanised (HDG): KBIHTGCM100025 (M10 x 25), KBIHTGCM120030 (M12 x 30) and KBIHTGCM120040 (M12 x 40).
  • Indicative tightening torque: M10 42.0 N-m (16,850N bolt tension); M12 73.0 N-m (24,450N bolt tension).
  • The torque figures are a guide only, for use when the engineer or supplier gives no torque. They are worked out from T = P x k x D, with P at 50% of the bolt's proof load and k of 0.22 for zinc plated and 0.25 for galvanised, assuming all bearing surfaces are in full contact. The engineer should confirm the final tension and torque.
  • Install square: the base of the head and the base of the nut must sit in full contact with the parts being fastened. Hole sizes to AS 4600 or as the design engineer specifies.

Who it helps: Roofers and steel builders fixing fascia with high tensile bolts, and staff matching a size.
