Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • One size: M14 x 115 (part MAP88ZDM140115), 95mm embedment, 20mm drill hole drilled 110mm deep, 150Nm installation torque, 30mm wrench.
  • Class 8.8 bolt with a large 30mm hex head, heavy-duty heat-treated washer and a nylon compression ring; zinc plated.
  • Minimum concrete thickness 150mm (125mm for slab on ground where drilling through is allowed), minimum edge distance 300mm, minimum spacing 240mm.
  • Working load limits in C20/25 concrete: tension 17.1kN; shear 43.7kN at an edge distance of 350mm or more, 37.6kN at 300mm. Steel failure governs.
  • Combined tension and shear is checked with the AS 3850.1 interaction formula on the sheet, using a factor of safety of 2.25. Wind loads from AS/NZS 1170 are divided by 1.5 first.
  • Install: drill to depth, blow the hole clean, seat the bolt head and washer on the brace foot, then tighten with a calibrated torque wrench.

Who it helps: Engineers and tilt-up crews specifying and installing temporary panel brace anchors.
