XCHEM PRO V401 Vinylester Chemical Anchor for Masonry: European Technical Assessment ETA 24/0504
Hobson's cover and the European Technical Assessment ETA 24/0504 (7 June 2024) for XCHEM PRO V401 vinylester injection mortar used in masonry. It covers M6 to M12 threaded rods in solid clay brick, hollow or perforated brick (with a perforated nylon sleeve) and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC).
What this covers
- Cartridges and nylon sleeves
- Curing times
- Rod dimensions and materials
- Intended use and brick types
- Installation data by brick
- Hole cleaning and injection
- Characteristic resistances
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- For static and quasi-static loads, M6 to M12, in solid masonry, hollow or perforated masonry, or AAC. The masonry mortar must be at least strength class M 2.5. The test bricks were a solid clay brick, a hollow clay brick and an AAC block.
- Hollow and perforated brick needs the perforated nylon sleeve: 12 x 80mm for M6 and M8, 16 x 85mm for M10 and M12. Fill the sleeve 100% with resin, then insert the rod with a slight twist.
- Solid brick and AAC: drill 8, 10, 12 or 14mm for M6 to M12, with embedment 80mm to 100mm and the hole 5mm deeper than the embedment. Fill the hole about 75% before inserting the rod.
- Galvanised carbon steel rods are for dry internal conditions. Stainless A2 or A4 and HCR rods suit external exposure, including industrial and marine environments, and permanently damp internal conditions.
- Temperature range -40 to +40 degrees C. Cure before loading: at 20 to 30 degrees C, 5 minutes working time, 30 minutes in dry and 60 minutes in wet base material (longer in AAC at low temperatures).
- Maximum tightening torque is very low: 1Nm in solid clay brick, 2Nm in hollow brick and 1 to 2Nm in AAC, depending on size.
- No fire resistance performance assessed. Design is by EOTA TR 054 design method A; the brick resistances are characteristic values for engineers, not working loads.
Who it helps: Engineers and builders fixing threaded rod into brick, block or AAC masonry with a chemical anchor.
