Mungo MIT-SP Injection Mortar for Masonry: Technical Data Sheet

Mungo's 12-page technical data sheet for MIT-SP, an injection mortar for anchoring threaded rod into masonry, distributed by Hobson. It covers the approvals, the MIT-SH-K2 plastic sleeves for hollow masonry, working and curing times, installation data for M8 to M16 rods, and recommended loads in aerated concrete, calcium silicate, clay brick and lightweight concrete units.

What this covers

  • Intended use and approvals
  • Plastic sleeves
  • Working and curing time
  • Installation parameters
  • Resistance of threaded rods
  • Loads by masonry type

For Chemical Anchors (Chemset-Style).

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Approved for use in masonry (European Technical Assessment to ETAG 029, ETA-13/0033) and, as Option 7, for non-cracked concrete C20/25 to C50/60. For static and quasi-static loads, in dry or wet masonry.
  • Reaction to fire class A1; no performance has been assessed for resistance to fire.
  • Working and curing time depend on temperature: at 20 to 29°C about 6 minutes working time and 45 minutes curing; at 0 to 4°C 45 minutes working and 3 hours curing; at -5 to -1°C 90 minutes and 6 hours.
  • Solid masonry without a sleeve: M8, M10, M12 and M16 rods in 10, 12, 14 and 18mm holes, 80 to 100mm deep, with a minimum wall thickness of the embedment plus 30mm. Hollow masonry uses the MIT-SH-K2 sleeves, 12 to 20mm diameter and 80 to 330mm long.
  • Recommended loads are given for a short term maximum of 40°C (long term 24°C) or 80°C (long term 50°C). Example: M12 in autoclaved aerated concrete AAC6, 100mm embedment, dry masonry: 1.61kN tension at 40°C/24°C, 1.25kN at 80°C/50°C, 3.21kN shear, at the edge distance and spacing listed for that block.
  • The recommended loads include partial safety factors (load factor 1.4). They must be reduced at minimum edge and spacing distances and for combined loads, and installation must be done by qualified people under site supervision.

Who it helps: Builders and engineers fixing into brick, block and aerated concrete with threaded rod and resin.
