XChem Pro C601 Chemical Anchor Capsule: European Technical Assessment ETA 20/0533

The European Technical Assessment ETA-20/0533 (26 July 2024, issued by DIBt) behind Hobson's XChem Pro C601 chemical capsule, assessed as the MKT "Chemical Anchor VZ". Hobson's cover marks it Option 1 (cracked and non-cracked concrete) and Seismic C1. It is the engineer's document: product description, intended use, installation and design resistances.

What this covers

  • Cover: approvals
  • Product description
  • Intended use
  • Installation parameters
  • Characteristic resistances
  • Seismic performance

For Chemical Anchors (Chemset-Style).

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • A bonded anchor: the VZ-P resin capsule goes in the hole and the anchor rod (V-A, M8 to M30) or internally threaded rod (VZ-IG, IG-M6 to IG-M20) is driven in by machine.
  • For cracked or uncracked normal weight concrete, strength classes C20/25 to C50/60, in dry or wet concrete. Seismic category C1 is assessed for the M8 to M30 rods; no seismic performance is assessed for the internally threaded rods.
  • Effective anchorage depth for anchor rods: M8 80mm, M10 90mm, M12 110mm, M16 125mm, M20 170mm, M24 210mm, M30 270mm.
  • Holes by hammer, compressed air or vacuum drilling; installation downwards, horizontally or overhead; concrete temperature -20 to +40°C during installation.
  • Temperature range I: -40 to +40°C (long-term up to +24°C). Range II: -40 to +80°C (long-term up to +50°C).
  • Reaction to fire class A1; resistance to fire is not assessed. Assumed working life at least 50 years.
  • Anchorages must be designed by an engineer experienced in anchorages and concrete work, to EN 1992-4 or TR 055. The resistances in the ETA are characteristic values for engineers, not working loads.

Who it helps: Engineers and builders who need the certified basis for capsule chemical anchors in cracked concrete or seismic design.
