Mungo MIT-SP Polyester Injection System, Comp. A and B: Safety Data Sheet

The Australian safety data sheets for both parts of the Mungo MIT-SP polyester injection system, issued by Hobson Engineering on 26 May 2022: Comp. A (Chemwatch 5252-91) and the curing agent Comp. B (Chemwatch 5252-94), which together form the mounting material. They cover hazards, ingredients, first aid, firefighting, spills, handling, storage, protective equipment and transport.

  • Comp. A, a light beige paste, carries the signal word Danger: harmful if swallowed, causes skin irritation and serious eye irritation, may cause an allergic skin reaction, may cause cancer, may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure, and is harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
  • Comp. B, a black paste containing 10 to under 20% dibenzoyl peroxide, carries the signal word Warning: may cause an allergic skin reaction and causes serious eye irritation.
  • Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection. The sheet lists safety glasses with side shields or chemical goggles, and for Comp. A warns: do NOT use latex gloves.
  • First aid as written on the sheet: eyes, wash out immediately with fresh running water and seek medical attention without delay. Skin, remove all contaminated clothing including footwear and flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available). If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting and seek medical advice.
  • Handling: use in a well-ventilated area, do not eat, drink or smoke when handling, always wash hands with soap and water afterwards, and do not let contaminated work clothing out of the workplace.
  • Storage: keep in original containers, securely sealed, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials and foodstuff containers. Comp. A: store locked up. Comp. B: store between 5 and 25°C and protect from light. Avoid cross contamination between the two parts.
  • Neither part is regulated as dangerous goods for road (ADG), air or sea transport. Comp. A is combustible, a slight fire hazard when exposed to heat or flame.
