Spotted Gum
F27 structural spotted gum and GL18 laminated posts, picked and packed to order for Adelaide and South Australia.
Spotted Gum Timber in Adelaide
Spotted gum is the Australian hardwood engineers and builders reach for when a job needs strength with looks: a dense, highly durable native species with colour that plays from light brown through to deep chocolate, and one of the timbers recognised as bushfire-resisting under AS 3959. Pergolas, verandah beams, posts and decks are where it shines.
The Allmat range covers the structural side: F27 stress-graded sections from 70 × 45 through to 290 × 45, and GL18 laminated posts up to 135 × 135, with spotted gum decking quoted on request alongside.
We pick and pack to order. Holding every size of every species at our Gillman yard would take a yard the size of a suburb, so the range sits in bulk storage behind it and stock comes into Gillman for picking, packing and dispatch.

Spotted Gum FAQs
F27 is a hardwood stress grade, one of the highest commonly specified for structural timber. When plans call up F27 spotted gum for a pergola, verandah or deck structure, this is the material they mean: dense Australian hardwood graded for serious structural work.
GL18 is a glue-laminated hardwood grade. The posts are built up from laminates and graded for structural use, which makes them straighter and more stable than solid sections of the same size, in this range up to 135 × 135.
Timber shorthand. KD is kiln dried. DPR is dressed with pencil round edges, machined smooth with a slight rounding on the corners. E4E is eased four edges, a similar light rounding. In short: finished, handling-friendly timber, not rough sawn.
It is one of the best regarded Australian hardwoods for exactly that: dense, durable and strong, with colour that runs from light brown through to chocolate. Pergolas, verandah beams, posts and decks are its home ground. Like any outdoor timber, it rewards a coat of oil and sensible detailing.
Spotted gum is one of the timbers recognised as bushfire-resisting under AS 3959 and is commonly accepted for applications up to BAL-29. Requirements vary by application and site, so confirm the specifics with your building designer or certifier.
