Plywood
Structural, marine, formply, bracing, decorative and flooring plywood, in Adelaide and South Australia.
What is plywood?
Plywood is an engineered wood panel built from thin timber veneers glued together, with the grain of each layer turned at right angles to the one below. That cross-lamination is the whole trick: it makes the sheet strong and stable in both directions and very hard to split, with far more consistency than a solid board of the same thickness.
Allmat distributes the full spread: structural CD and BD, non-structural, marine, okoume, birch and hoop pine, formply and film face for concrete work, bracing, decorative panels and structural flooring. Structural sheets are graded and stamped to the Australian Standards for load-bearing work.

Plywood FAQs
Plywood is an engineered wood panel made from thin timber veneers glued together with the grain of each layer turned at right angles to the next. That cross-lamination is what makes it strong, stable and hard to split in either direction, so it is used for flooring, bracing, formwork, cabinetry, boats and cladding.
Structural plywood is manufactured and graded to carry load, with a permanent A-bond glueline, and is stamped to AS/NZS 2269 for jobs like flooring, bracing and formwork. Non-structural plywood is for lining, cabinetry and appearance work where it is not carrying structural load. CD and BD refer to the face and back veneer quality, C and D being rougher and B a cleaner face.
Formply is a graded, film-faced structural plywood used as the form face for pouring concrete, in F17 and F14. The smooth phenolic film gives a clean concrete finish and lets the sheet be reused. Film face plywood has the same phenolic surface but is ungraded, for hoarding and hard-wearing surfaces.
Marine plywood is a high-quality plywood built to BS1088 or AS2272 with a fully waterproof glueline and void-free veneers, so it stands up to constant moisture. Okoume marine is a light, fine-grained version favoured for boat building. It is about the veneer quality and bond, not a timber treatment.
Structural tongue-and-groove plywood flooring is a strong, stable platform floor that spans between joists, available untreated or H3 LOSP treated for exposed and outdoor decks and balconies, from 15mm to 25mm in 2400 and 2700 lengths.
Most plywood is the standard 2400 × 1200 sheet, with marine, okoume and birch in 2440 × 1220, from around 3mm up to 32mm depending on the type. The full range is listed above, and Allmat can order in sizes and grades not shown.
