Light Red Meranti
Meranti has been Allmat's flagship timber for over 35 years. Light Red Meranti is a stable, versatile hardwood with a straight grain and a warm red-brown colour. It machines cleanly and takes paint, stain and clear finishes well, which makes it a trade favourite for doors, windows, skirtings, mouldings and general joinery.
Allmat carry one of the widest Meranti ranges in South Australia, from dressed boards and sawn sizes through to skirtings, architraves, door sets, quads, scotias and a full range of mouldings and beads. With machining on site, we can also cut and profile Meranti to order.

Meranti comes in random lengths, usually 1.8m to 5.4m. Around 50 to 60 per cent of a pack sits in the 1.8m to 2.7m range, with only a small amount running to 4.8m and over.

Light Red Meranti is primarily an interior and joinery timber, ideal for doors, windows, architraves, skirtings and mouldings. It can be used in protected exterior situations when it is well sealed and maintained. For in-ground, wet or fully exposed work, a more durable hardwood is the better choice, and we are happy to point you to one.

Yes. Meranti has a straight, even grain that sands back cleanly and takes paint, stain and clear finishes well, which is a big part of why it is so widely used for joinery and mouldings.
