Key things to remember
The essentials from this guide, at a glance.
- Joists must be at least 45mm wide; residential joist spacing is a maximum of 500mm for a standard layout and 300mm for a diagonal layout.
- Allow a minimum 150mm between the ground and the lowest framing member, plus 50mm unobstructed clearance for cross flow ventilation.
- HardieDeck must be sealed within 60 days of installation, or within 7 days around pools or within 1km of the coast.
- The system is not suitable for alpine areas (climate zone 8) or within 50m of breaking surf.
- Edge caps are fixed at a maximum of 500mm centres with a 25mm 8 gauge stainless steel screw.
- The HardieDeck system carries a 10 year warranty when installed with the Double Winged Base Jointer and Snap-In Top Strip.
