Key things to remember
The essentials from this guide, at a glance.
- Apply the sealer within 60 days of installation, or within 7 days if the deck is around a swimming pool or within 1km of the coast.
- Anti-slip additives are required for decks around pools or wherever a P4 slip rating is needed.
- Allow the deck to dry for at least 48 hours in fine weather before sealing, and vacuum the surface just before the first coat.
- Pressure cleaning must not exceed 1600 psi, and acid etching is not recommended on HardieDeck.
- HardieDeck is not suitable for Climate Zone 8, and light reflective colours are recommended for areas exposed to sun.
- Decks in pool and coastal areas should be cleaned weekly with clean water to remove salt and chemical deposits.
