BDX Metal Cyclone Multiseal 14-14 x 125 to 230mm: Performance Data
Hobson's three-page performance data sheet for the long BDX metal Cyclone Multiseal screw, part prefix T9PM9YG1414. It fixes metal roofing to steel frames in high wind areas, through roofing insulation, and the sheet covers sizes, the bonded washer, pullout values, mechanical properties, a drill point test and installation.

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- 14 gauge, 14 TPI, lengths 125, 150, 175, 205 and 230mm, hex head with a 3/8 inch drive. Assembled with a 25mm aluminium bonded washer.
- C1022 hardened steel with the X9 ProteXion coating, which the sheet rates as suitable for ISO 9223 category 4 environments.
- For fastening metal roofing sheets to steel frames in high wind areas; the longer lengths suit different thicknesses of roofing insulation. Suits all roofing profiles and sheds.
- Working pullout load: 400N in G2 steel 0.7mm, 2,250N in G450 1.9mm and 3,000N in G2 2.9mm. The 2.5 factor of safety for steel is already included; the mean and characteristic loads beside them are test values. All values come from laboratory tests, and real pullout can differ with the base material.
- Drill point test: under a 18kg load at 2,200 RPM it drills 1.9mm G450 plate in no more than 5 seconds on average (6 seconds at most for any one screw).
- Drive with a cordless screw gun at 2,200 to 3,000 RPM using a hex drive bit, with firm, steady pressure, and do not over-tighten. Impact drivers are not recommended.
