Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Three sizes: 25mm x 5m with 750kg lashing capacity, 35mm x 6m with 1,500kg, and 50mm x 9m with 2,500kg.
- Polyester webbing with protective sleeves; steel ratchet, hook and keeper, zinc yellow finish. Complies with AS/NZS 4380.
- For load restraint only. Never use a tie down for lifting.
- Do not use the strap if more than 10% of the load bearing fibres or stitching is damaged, or if the ratchet or hooks are deformed, cracked, worn or corroded.
- Keep at least 1.5 turns of webbing on the ratchet spindle when tensioned. You may twist the webbing half a turn to stop flapping, but no more, and never knot it.
- Use sleeves or corner protectors over sharp edges, keep the straps away from chemicals, and check the load weight so enough straps are used.
Who it helps: Tradies, transport operators and anyone restraining a load on a ute, trailer or truck.
