Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • 11 sizes for 35mm, 45mm and 50mm thick joists, 76mm to 182mm deep, all 55mm long. Part numbers HHJ16D-035090 to HHJ16D-050190.
  • Fix with 30 x 2.8mm stainless nails (3.0 to 3.1mm holes) or M12 bolts (13.0 to 13.2mm holes). No pre-drilling needed for the nails.
  • Minimum nails for the stated capacities, supporting beam and joist: 90 size 8 and 6; 120 and 140 sizes 12 and 8; 190 size 20 and 12.
  • Bolted option: one M12 bolt in each wing, with 50 x 50 x 3mm square washers on the nut side. Matching parts: BH16PCM12 A4-70 hex bolt, NH16PCM12 hex nut, WS16PM12050030 square washer.
  • Capacities are limit state design values to AS 1720.1, for engineers, for Category 1 applications; multiply by 0.94 for Category 2 and 0.88 for Category 3. They vary by load case, joint group (J2 to J6 unseasoned, JD2 to JD6 seasoned) and hanger size (nailed) or effective timber thickness (bolted, dead load plus floor live load only).
  • Example: nailed 120 size hanger with the full nail count, dead load plus floor live load (k1 = 0.69), seasoned JD4 timber, Category 1: 5.2kN design capacity.
  • Uses: joists to beams, rafters to fascias, floor trusses to beams and beams to masonry.

Who it helps: Builders and engineers framing decks and floors in coastal or corrosive settings who need stainless hangers with published capacities.
