Metric Spanner Size Chart for Hex Bolts and Nuts, M1.6 to M110

Hobson's one-page chart of the spanner size, in millimetres, for metric hex bolts and nuts from M1.6 to M110. It gives the size for each standard, because the same thread size can have a different hex across flats depending on the standard it is made to.

  • AS 1110, AS 1111, AS 1112 and ISO 4014 bolts and nuts: M6 10mm, M8 13mm, M10 16mm, M12 18mm, M16 24mm, M20 30mm, M24 36mm.
  • DIN 931, DIN 933 and DIN 934 differ in some sizes: M10 17mm, M12 19mm, M14 22mm, M22 32mm. Most other sizes match AS 1110.
  • AS 1252.1 structural bolts take a bigger spanner: M12 21mm, M16 27mm, M20 32mm, M24 41mm, M30 50mm, M36 60mm.
  • DIN 6921 flange bolts take a smaller spanner from M10: M10 15mm, M12 16mm, M16 21mm, M20 27mm. JIS B1189 sizes are listed from M5 to M16.
