Mungo MCS and MCSr Concrete Screw: Data Sheet
Mungo's five-page technical data sheet for the MCS (galvanised steel) and MCSr (A4/316 stainless) concrete screw in 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14mm sizes. It covers approvals, materials, installation, head types and article codes, installation data and basic performance figures based on ETA-16/0296.
What this covers
- Intended use and approvals
- Materials
- Installation
- Head types and article codes
- Installation data
- Basic performance data
Applies to MCS-I Concrete Screw Hanger and Concrete Screws (Screw Anchors).
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- European Technical Assessment ETA-16/0296, Option 1: for cracked and non-cracked concrete, strength classes C20/25 to C50/60. Seismic category C1 for sizes 8 to 14 at maximum embedment, fire resistance tested up to F120, reaction to fire class A1.
- Head types: MCS-S hex with washer (zinc flake coated), MCS-SK countersunk, MCS-P pan and MCS-PG large pan in galvanised steel; MCSr-S, MCSr-SK and MCSr-P in A4/316 stainless. MCS-S runs from 6 x 50 to 14 x 150, with 10mm screws up to 360mm long.
- Drill bit size equals screw size, hammer drilling only, and clean the hole. The head must sit flush on the fixture. The screw can be adjusted at most twice, backing out no more than 10mm, and must end at least at the nominal embedment depth.
- Tighten with a torque wrench to 10Nm (6mm), 20Nm (8mm), 40Nm (10mm), 60Nm (12mm) or 80Nm (14mm). Minimum edge distance and spacing run from 40mm (6mm screw) to 70mm (12mm screw at 100mm embedment, 14mm screw at 100 and 115mm).
- Recommended tension load for one screw in C20/25 concrete with no edge, spacing or splitting influence (load factor 1.4 plus the ETA material factors): 10mm screw at 75mm nominal embedment 9.52kN non-cracked, 7.96kN cracked; 12mm at 85mm 13.19kN and 9.40kN.
- The characteristic and design resistances in the table are for engineers. Combined loads, close edges and groups need the full ETA or Mungo design software, and the data must be checked by an engineer experienced in anchorage.
Who it helps: Builders and engineers fixing into concrete who need the sizes, install settings and ETA-based loads for a concrete screw.
