Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Made from polyamide PA 6 (nylon) for solid and hollow building materials, indoors and outdoors. Takes wood screws, chipboard screws and metric screws.
- Eight sizes, 5 x 25 to 16 x 80. The drill bit matches the plug size (a 6mm plug needs a 6mm hole), and the hole is drilled deeper than the plug, for example 40mm for the 6 x 30 and 65mm for the 10 x 50.
- Screw sizes: the 6mm plug takes 6 to 10 gauge or M4; the 8mm plug 10 to 12 gauge or M5; the 10mm plug 12 to 14 gauge or M6. The 12, 14 and 16mm plugs take M8, M10 and M12 metric screws. Screw length is the embedment plus the fixture thickness.
- Install: drill, clean the hole, push the plug in flush, position the fixture, then drive the screw until it is secure.
- Recommended tension load (Nrec), 6mm plug: 0.6kN in non-cracked concrete C20/25 or stronger, 0.4kN in 10-hole clay brick, 0.06kN in aerated concrete. 10mm plug: 1.4kN, 0.8kN and 0.2kN. These are the manufacturer's recommended loads under defined conditions, a guide for design and installation.
- Wings stop the plug spinning, a knock-in guard stops it expanding too early, and teeth spread it evenly as the screw goes in.
