Tygabolt Sleeve Anchor, Zinc Yellow Passivate: Performance Data

A two-page product data sheet for the Tygabolt nut-head sleeve anchor in zinc yellow passivate, part MTBMSYM. It lists every part, the installation guide, and design and working loads in tension and shear in 32MPa non-cracked concrete.

What this covers

  • Sizes and part numbers
  • Installation guide
  • Tension loads
  • Shear loads

For Sleeve Anchors (Dynabolt-Style).

Key things to remember

The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.

  • Fully assembled wedge-type sleeve anchor for solid concrete, carbon steel, zinc yellow passivate. Tightening the nut draws the cone into the sleeve, which expands against the side of the hole. Uses listed: handrails, formwork supports, and mechanical, electrical and pipe brackets.
  • 22 parts in six anchor sizes: 6.5mm (M5 thread) 25 to 55mm long, 8mm (M6) 40 to 80mm, 10mm (M8) 40 to 120mm, 12mm (M10) 60 to 120mm, 16mm (M12) 65 to 145mm, 20mm (M16) 75 to 160mm.
  • Installation: M5 thread in a 6.5mm hole, 25mm minimum depth, 5 N-m; M6, 8mm, 40mm, 8 N-m; M8, 10mm, 50mm, 25 N-m; M10, 12mm, 60mm, 40 N-m; M12, 16mm, 70mm, 50 N-m; M16, 20mm, 80mm, 80 N-m.
  • Minimum concrete thickness 75mm (M5), 100mm (M6 to M10), 125mm (M12), 150mm (M16). Minimum spacing and edge distance 50mm (M5, M6) up to 120mm (M16).
  • Working load in tension, 32MPa non-cracked concrete, factor of safety 2.5 for steel and 3.0 for concrete already included: 2.0kN for the 6.5mm (M5) at 25mm embedment, 9.2kN for the 12mm (M10) at 70mm, 14.7kN for the 20mm (M16) at 90mm.
  • Working load in shear, same conditions: 1.1kN (M5, 40mm embedment, 50 to 70mm edge distance), 4.6kN (M10, 70mm embedment, 75 to 120mm edge), 10.2kN (M16, 100mm embedment, 120mm edge).
  • Design resistances (strength reduction 0.60 concrete, 0.80 steel) are also tabled, for engineers.

Who it helps: Builders fixing handrails, brackets and formwork supports to concrete, and staff checking which length a size comes in.
